To the tune of "My name is John Wellington Wells" from The Sorcerer by Gilbert & Sullivan

Oh, my name is John Millington Synge
For dramatics I’ve got quite a thing!
Of emotional torment
And odd metaphor, meant
to show everyone sorrowing.

If, emotionally you want it packed,
I’ll put it all into one act!
With weeping and crying,
and folks always dying
And bodies washed up in sea-wrack!

There’s ominous prophecy
death that comes from the sea;
Corpses that come alive,
when a new guest arrives;
Visions of parricide
used as a source of pride;
audience rioting—
though that’s disquieting—
Tinkers who use a sack
in which a priest to pack;
Stories of lechery
combined with treachery
Beggars with blindness
who have little kindness
And everyone ultimately comes to some horrible fate!

Oh!

I’ll show a priest issuing banns
When bribed with some empty tin cans
And if there’s reverses
He’s sure to throw curses
at all of the young miscreants

My name is John Millington Synge
For dramatics I’ve got quite a thing!
Of emotional torment
And odd metaphor, meant
to show everyone sorrowing.
